Waldlechn Mountain Farm

South Tyrolean hospitality with tavern and holiday accommodations

Allow us to introduce ourselves: We are Helga and Hans Jörg Gruber, the innkeepers of the Waldlechn Tavern. Along with our two daughters, Elisabeth and Hannah, we bid you a warm welcome.

Helga took over the farm from her great uncle Simon, who was known across the region by his nickname “Urgestein” (bedrock) – a real original! We subsequently rebuilt Waldlechnhof from the ground up – first the residence in 1995, then the feeding house in 2000. The latter had an eventful history behind it. The original feeding house was outdated and had to be rebuilt in 1927, but it burnt all the way down to the foundations in 1947. The next feeding house fell victim to an avalanche in 1951. And the following building had to be rebuilt by us once again at the turn of the millennium.

In order to serve our guests homemade foods and farm products, we opened our tavern in 2010, which is well known throughout the Ahrntal. For vacationers, it offers tasty access to the typical specialties from the Ahrntal and our regional cuisine. The upper floor was expanded in 2019, resulting in a holiday apartment and two comfortable guest rooms. So day trippers as well as vacationers from afar can enjoy the idyllic region above Steinhaus to their heart’s content. The passion of host Hans Jörg, the hunt is a special highlight. Our guests can go hunting with him and discover the Ahrntal.
