A charming valley for your holiday in South Tyrol

The Ahrntal holiday region – an idyll with fascinating opportunities

The Ahrntal is surely one of the most beautiful mountain valleys in South Tyrol, and definitely one of the most scenic and varied. It branches off at Bruneck north of the Puster Valley and follows the course of the Ahr to the northernmost corner of the country, past Prettau/Kasern. Until Sand in Taufers, it’s known as the Tauferer Ahrntal; the Ahrntal proper stretches from there to the source of the Ahr. In this section of the valley, you can also find Steinhaus, the main village of the Ahrntal commune, above which lies our farm. In Steinhaus, the Kornkasten mining museum beckons with an extremely fascinating exhibition featuring showpieces from the time when copper mining was still practiced in nearby Prettau.

Proud three-thousand-metre mountains as far as the eye can see

On your holiday in the Ahrntal, you have everything within reach: First of all, there are the beauties of the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, where lush alpine meadows merge into bizarre mountain formations, and through which high mountain trails with fantastic panoramic views wind. Here in the Ahrntal, you’ll be greeted by 80 incredible three-thousand-metre mountains, of which the Dreiherrenspitze towers highest, at 3,499 m. The Reinbach Falls and the Klaussee are also natural wonders that you really should see. In addition, Bruneck is always worth a trip. Once there, you’re already in the Puster Valley and in the neighbouring Kronplatz holiday region with the ski mountain of the same name.
